The only way mankind could be redeemed from the clutches of sin is through death and the shedding of blood. From the beginning God had clearly stated that the punishment for sin is death and so blood must be shed in order to cover the sin.
Leviticus 17:11 “for the life of the body is in its blood. I have given you the blood on the altar to purify you, making you right with the Lord. * It is blood given in exchange for life, that make purification possible.”
Hebrews 9:22 “In fact, the law required that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.”
This means, if there is to be shedding of blood to atone for ones life, then either we must shed our own blood or someone else must. If we shed our own blood we die and that is not what God desires. He wants us alive. For this very purpose God had already made a provision at the time of mans fall. God introduced the idea of one innocent being shedding its blood in place of the sinner. In the Old Testament the sacrificial system was introduced, as it says in Leviticus 1:4 “Lay your hand on the animal’s head, and the LORD will accept its death in your place to purify you, making your right with him.”
This method of sacrificing animals in place of us was only a temporary fix and had to be repeated on a yearly basis. Since we continue to be in sin, we continue the need to sacrifice an animal in our place. A more permanent solutions is required in order to defeat and pay for the price of sin once and for all. Since sin entered into the world through one man Adam and caused death, through one man must sin be overcome and payment made (1 Corinthians 15:21 “For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man”). If all humans are sinful then who can pay the price for sin? Just as an animal must be without spot or blemish, so too must there be a man without spot of blemish in order to pay for the price of sin. The only way for this is if God himself did this, because he is holy. So God became man in order that we might be saved because of his great love for his creation.
God became man, known as Jesus. The meaning of the name Jesus (also known as “Joshua” in Hebrew) means “the LORD saves”. Jesus died for us in our place. Since he was God, there was no sin in him, although he came as a human in order to fulfill the requirements of a perfect sacrifice that we might have life and take our punishment on himself. Therefore if anyone accepts the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on his/her behalf, then they are covered by his blood and saved. This is a free gift of God, as it says in Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
No other men or gods have done this for us. Buddha didn’t die for us, Mohammad didn’t die for us nor any other god whoever you name, firstly was “NOT SINLESS” and secondly “didn’t die for us”.
Only Jesus being God himself satisfied the requirement of a perfect, sinless person who was took our place on the cross. Therefore, Jesus is the only way and through him we now have eternal life.
Today you can also receive remission of your sins, not by your own works, but through faith in Jesus Christ who already paid the price for us. All you have to do is to accept his sacrifice in your place as a free gift. Take this moment to declare you have accepted the free gift by saying the following prayer:
“God I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. However I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord, for saving me and forgiving me. Amen.”
