Micah 7:18-19 “Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love.”
There is no God like Jehovah, for His steadfast love endures forever. Micah was recalling the promise given to Abraham and reaffirmed to Jacob (Genesis 13:15), and it’s elements apply to us as Christians today. Hebrews 8:12 says “For I will be merciful toward their iniquities and I will remember their sins no more.” We too are experiencing the loving care of the great Shepherd who feeds His flock in the strength of the Lord. Micah’s concept of the remnant encompasses believers today through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and through the transforming power and work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
Are you going through a period in your life where you think your sin is far too great for forgiveness? Do you believe there is no hope for your future, because of your past? Friends, this is the very reason Jesus came into this world. He came to save the sinner who cannot save himself.
So, what do you need to do? Come in humbleness before the Lord and confess your sin. Just like King David who declared in Psalm 32:5 saying “I acknowledge my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah”.
You see, God is merciful to the humble of heart, to the one who seeks the help of the Lord amid their weakness. His steadfast love is available to those who come in this manner. Are you willing to go to the Father and lay down your sins before Him and seek His mercy? The Bible tells us that those who do not come in this manner will not prosper. Proverbs 28:13 says “Whoever conceals his transgression will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.” Amen!
It is only Christ who can cleanse us from all unrighteousness, and “all” means all. Do you think your past is outside the realm of forgiveness for a God who declared that He could cleanse you from “all” unrighteousness? What you need to do, is to confess your sin, do not conceal it, forsake your sin and finally believe in the name of Jesus Christ.
1 John 1:9 says “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Remember that He is not only able to forgive you for your sins, but He is also able to help you. I want to stress that again. Jesus came not only to forgive you of your sins, but also to help you overcome it. It is why Jesus came for you and me.
Luke 4:18-19 says “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor, He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are being oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
What a blessed promise. Christ has come to set you free from sin and death and has given you new life. So that you may sin no more and to help you be more like Him every day. It does not mean you will be perfect, but what it means is that you will change every day to reflect the living Christ in you.
That is why scriptures tell us in Hebrews 2:17-18 “Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become more a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.”
Friends, we have a faithful high priest who can help you overcome and forgive your past sin, cleanse you and to cover you with all His righteousness, and to help you be more Christ-like every day of your life. Therefore, come in humbleness before the Lord, confess your sin and commit yourself into the hand of the mighty God.
In closing, let us read Hebrews 4:16 saying “Let us then with confidence draw near the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
